Remote Volunteer
Qualifications:
Must be a highly qualified high-school student (see application below) or be 18 years or older with a GED or degree
Must have excellent literacy and communication skills and an interest in literacy education
Dependable and punctual
Experience working with children a big plus!
Eager to make a lasting, positive difference in a child’s life
Available twice a week at designated times
Access to Zoom for the tutoring sessions (Access to a computer is strongly recommended as some features may be more difficult on a tablet)
Complete a background check
Must attend orientation and READ 718 training (in-person or remote)
Process:

A READ 718 staff member will contact you nearer to the beginning of the cycle. You will be placed on our waitlist until then.
Attend a 30 minute orientation on Zoom or in-person
READ 718 will request 2 references and a background check
Attend a 2.5 hour training on Zoom or 3.5 hour training in person

We sometimes have more applicants than we do children and we are not always able to pair applicants with a child. Because our volunteers work one-on-one with a child, we strongly consider personality and qualifications/experience when pairing the volunteers with specific children.
